SkySpottr ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and password (stored securely hashed).
• Subscription Information: If you subscribe to SkySpottr+, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card information.

Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: We collect your device's location to calculate aircraft positions relative to you. Location data is used in real-time and is not stored on our servers beyond the active session.
• Device Motion Data: We use accelerometer and gyroscope data to determine your device's orientation for AR overlays. This data is processed locally and not transmitted to our servers.
• Camera Data: Camera access is used solely to display the AR overlay. We do not record, transmit, or store video or images from your camera unless you explicitly save a screenshot.
• Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and analytics purposes.
• Usage Data: We collect anonymized usage statistics such as feature usage, session duration, and app performance metrics to improve our service.

Guest Mode

If you use SkySpottr as a guest without creating an account, we generate a random device identifier to provide the service. This identifier is stored locally on your device and is not linked to any personal information.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service: Display aircraft positions relative to your location, enable AR tracking, and personalize your experience.
• Maintain Your Account: Authenticate your identity, manage your subscription, and sync your favorites and history across devices.
• Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs, optimize performance, and develop new features.
• Communicate with You: Send service-related notifications, respond to support requests, and (with your consent) send promotional updates.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics), subject to confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data Retention

• Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time.
• Location Data: Processed in real-time only; not stored persistently on our servers.
• Spotting History: Retained according to your subscription tier (1 month for free accounts, unlimited for SkySpottr+). You can delete your history at any time.
• Anonymized Analytics: May be retained indefinitely in aggregated, non-identifiable form.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
• Secure password hashing
• JWT-based authentication with token expiration
• Regular security audits and updates

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Correction: You can access and update your account information through the app settings.
• Data Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@skyspottr.com.
• Location Permissions: You can disable location access in your device settings, though this will prevent the app from functioning properly.
• Marketing Communications: You can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe link in any email.

Children's Privacy

SkySpottr is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Third-Party Services

Our app may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We use the following third-party services:

• RevenueCat: Subscription management
• Apple App Store: Payment processing and app distribution

International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
